Altopascio, eine Stadt in der Toskana, Italien, ist bekannt für ihre mittelalterliche Geschichte und das antike Spedale di San Jacopo. Umgeben von malerischen Landschaften spiegelt sie eine Mischung aus historischem Charme und natürlicher Schönheit wider.
Es war mein Ziel, jeden Abend eine Zusammenfassung dessen zu schreiben, was passiert ist. Das ist mir nicht gelungen. Es ist viel Arbeit, und am Ende war ich abends froh, wenn ich etwas zu essen und ein Bier hatte. Und natürlich einen Schlafplatz.
Ich arbeite jetzt daran, alles zusammenzufassen, was nicht immer einfach ist, besonders für diese ersten paar Tage. Und was ich am häufigsten vergessen habe, ist die Straße oder der genaue Weg. Ich habe Momente, an die ich mich erinnere. Ich erinnere mich sehr deutlich daran, dass ich zum Beispiel ein Café in der Nähe von Vico d'Elsa besucht habe, aber ich kann mich nicht an viele Dinge dazwischen erinnern. Ich werde also hauptsächlich einige Situationen beschreiben und nicht so sehr über die Straße oder Anstiege. Ich erinnere mich an sie, wenn sie wirklich schwer oder wirklich schön waren, aber wenn sie einfach normal waren. Nun, diese Erinnerungen sind weg. Wahrscheinlich ist das besser, denn ich bin über 11000 km geradelt.
Ein ziemlich glorreicher Tag! Mit vielen Highlights und einem anstrengenden Ende. Altopascio, ich weiß nicht, der Name klang so großartig. Alto bedeutet meiner Meinung nach hoch, ich habe irgendwie mehr erwartet, eigentlich sogar viel mehr. Aber die Stadt war nicht wirklich spektakulär. Lucca, mein erster Halt an diesem Tag, ganz anders. Absolut atemberaubend, mit kaum Autos in der Stadt und einer großen Mauer darum. Überall Fahrräder, alle draußen für einen schönen Frühlingstag.
Meine Unterkunft war so etwas wie eine Wundertüte. Ich konnte nichts finden, das nicht zu teuer war, und dieser Ort sah erstaunlich aus. Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass es ziemlich hoch auf einem Hügel sein könnte, aber die Besitzerin versicherte mir, dass ihre Kinder das jeden Tag machen würden, also würde es nicht zu schwer sein. Ich ignorierte meine Zweifel und buchte. Nun ja.
Und heute ist der Tag, an dem ich meine ersten 500 Kilometer beendet habe!
