Eine Achterbahnfahrt. Ich fuhr einen wunderschönen Anstieg entlang eines Sees, mit großartigen Aussichten und sehr wenigen Autos. Tr traf ein nettes Paar auf dem Weg, oben auf einem Hügel. Sie sagten, dass noch einige kommen würden, da sie es bereits einmal gemacht hätten. Aber sie konnten sich nicht genau erinnern. Also einigten wir uns darauf, dass Unwissenheit blüht. Ich kam in Killin an, wo ich eine kleine Mittagspause machte. Es begann zu regnen. Ziemlich stark. Also verlängerte ich den Aufenthalt. Als ich wieder loslegte, wurde ich mit einem wunderschönen Weg belohnt. Und sogar ein Tennisplatz. Ich habe schon lange keinen mehr gesehen und ich liebe sie! Aber dann, Schotter! Bergauf! Nicht mein Favorit! Mehr Regen! Nicht wirklich glücklich... mehr Regen. Aber dann wurde es so schön! Viele Seeblicke, kleine Straße, keine Autos. Manchmal fühlte ich mich wie der Zug aus Harry Potter, der durch die Highlands fährt. Dann wieder bergauf mit schlechtem Schotter durch einen Nationalpark. Sehr anstrengend, aber die Landschaft war absolut herrlich! Dann eine lange Abfahrt nach Aberfoyle. Mit dem süßesten Radweg überhaupt. Viele Illustrationen bedeckten den Weg mit Slogans, um umweltfreundlicher zu sein. Alles in allem mein Lieblingstag! So viel Schönheit! Leider habe ich nicht viele Bilder zu zeigen, da mein Handy leer war.
Das waren im Grunde genommen zwei Tage, an denen ich mich gefragt habe, wohin es als Nächstes gehen soll. Am ersten Tag übernachtete ich in einem tollen Hostel in der Nähe von Drymen. Dort traf ich viele nette Leute, sowohl dort als auch auf dem Weg. Dann machte ich mich auf den Weg nach Westen. Aber ich hielt an. In Glasgow. Nahm mir ein Zimmer und überlegte. Entschloss mich, nach Irland zu fahren, aber auf einer anderen Route. Die Planung schien etwas zu schwer, und ich konnte nicht viele Unterkünfte finden. Und ich war traurig, dass ich den Lake District nicht gesehen habe. Also entschied ich mich, auch das zu sehen. Nahm einen Zug nach Carlisle.

Und gesperrte Straßen. Das zwang mich, eine doppelte Fahrspur zu benutzen. Nicht mein Favorit. Bisher nicht allzu glücklich.
Es sieht idyllischer aus, als es war. Wieder Straßensperrung. Diesmal nahm ich einen Schotterweg auf der anderen Seite des Sees. Es war so hart. Als ich nach einer Abfahrt ankam, schien das Tor geschlossen zu sein. Ich hätte fast geweint. Wieder doppelte Fahrspur und Windermere! So viele Touristen, so viele Autos, so unangenehm! Positiv zu vermerken ist, dass die Fähre großartig war! Sie hatten einen Vogel, der sie die ganze Zeit begleitete und von den Fährbetreibern gefüttert wurde. Und der Campingplatz in Ings! Außergewöhnlich. Nicht auf flachem Boden, sondern auf einem ziemlich steilen Hügel!
Preston, meine Nemesis! Ich kann mich nicht mehr vollständig an den Tag erinnern. Es muss ein durchschnittlicher Tag gewesen sein. Was nicht schlecht ist! Aber ich erinnere mich an meine Ankunft. Holte mir ein Pint 🍺 in der örtlichen Kneipe. Dann entschied ich mich zum Campingplatz zu gehen. Es war leer, kaum Schilder, fast gespenstisch. Nach einer Weile tauchte ein Hund auf. Es fühlte sich an, als wäre dies der Ort, an dem ich endlich getötet werden würde. Also beschloss ich, einen anderen Ort zu finden. Fand ein Hotel. Sehr netter Kerl an der Rezeption, einige Art Junkies, die über mein Fahrrad krabbelten wie Spiderman, und schließlich eine gute Nacht Schlaf. Preston, auf dem Weg nach oben, warst du schon nicht mein Favorit. Auf dem Rückweg erst recht nicht. Wir werden uns nicht wiedersehen.
Ich habe mich entschieden, auf das europäische Festland zurückzukehren. Ich würde gerne durch Irland radeln, aber im Moment verspüre ich einen großen Drang zurück. Das Wetter ist eine Sorge, die andere ist, dass ich keine Lust habe, nach Westen zu fahren, weg von meiner zumindest vorübergehenden endgültigen Richtung. Ich bin wie ein Pferd, sobald der entfernteste Punkt erreicht ist 😜 Schöner Tag zum Radfahren, aber die Radwege hier machen mich nicht glücklich. Auf einem Kanal in Frankreich zu radeln, könnte großartig sein, aber auf einem Kanal zu radeln, puh! Highlight des Tages: ein Gespräch mit zwei Damen, ich würde sagen, in ihren späten 70ern, die auf ihren Rennrädern unterwegs waren und Spaß hatten! Oh, und ich landete mitten in einer Abschlussfeier in Liverpool.
