Ich bin ans Mittelmeer zurückgekehrt! Wunderschöne Aussichten, aber wow, dieser Wind. Obwohl der Wind letzte Woche schon ein Thema war, war es diesmal schlimmer. Es gibt nichts Schlimmeres, als auf einer belebten Straße mit starkem Wind von allen Seiten zu radeln. Das Schlimmste ist, dass du gegen einen unsichtbaren Feind kämpfst, den sonst niemand zu bemerken scheint. Wegen des Windes habe ich zum ersten Mal auf dieser Radtour geweint.
Abschied von Brunet. Ich hatte einen tollen Aufenthalt beim Zelten im Garten meiner Gastgeber. Besonders die Eltern waren super nett. Gut in ihren 80ern und mit vielen Geschichten zu erzählen. Ich bin nach Perpignan eingeladen, ich werde versuchen, vorbeizuschauen! Und dann gab es diese Bombe von einer süßen Sache. Pâte à choux, außen karamellisiert und innen mit Creme gefüllt. Aber absolut verdient. Der Wind war wieder hart. Während ich meine Zeit in Frankreich wirklich genieße, dieser Wind. Ich habe auch meinen ersten abgebrannten Wald gesehen. Generell ist es beängstigend, wie trocken es ist, wenn man bedenkt, dass es erst April ist. Ich werde mich nicht beschweren, aber um diese Jahreszeit keinen Regen zu haben, ist nicht normal.
Heute war der erste Tag, an dem ich geweint habe. Ich hatte mich auf möglicherweise die einfachste Fahrt bisher vorbereitet. Knapp unter 60 km und im Grunde keine Steigung. Es begann gut, aber dann musste ich die Richtung ein wenig ändern. Mehr nach Norden/Westen. Und Mann, der Wind. Er blies mir die ganze Zeit ins Gesicht. Mehrmals wurde ich fast vom Fahrrad geweht. Und das ist wirklich nicht lustig, wenn man auf einer belebten Straße unterwegs ist. Ich musste die Route ändern, aber das war so schmerzhaft. Und das Seltsamste ist, dass niemand zu erkennen scheint, mit welchen Schwierigkeiten du zu kämpfen hast. Aber gegen den Wind zu fahren, ist das Unbelohnendste überhaupt. Bergauf bekommt man Aussicht. Gegen wirbelnde Gegenwinde bekommt man nichts. Ich bin jedoch nach Avignon gekommen, und eigentlich hat es mir dort überhaupt nicht gefallen. Aber es gab dennoch einen großartigen Abschluss an diesem Tag, als ich einen alten Kollegen getroffen habe.
Ein weiteres Highlight des Tages. Ich habe meine eigene Klopapierrolle bekommen. Ich bin im Campingland angekommen.
Heute habe ich bekommen, was ich mir gewünscht habe. Eine einfache Fahrt mit Seiten- und Rückenwind. Ein so großer Unterschied! Ich habe das möglicherweise bereits gesagt, aber die Fahrradrouten hier sind großartig! Meistens keine speziellen Straßen, sondern kleine Wege. Kaum Autos! Ich kann das wirklich sehr empfehlen. Plötzlich sind auch viele Fahrradtouristen hier unterwegs. Oft super gut ausgestattet und irgendwie ein wenig unfreundlich, oder ich weiß nicht, wie ich es beschreiben soll. Aber ich habe heute auch eine 68-jährige Dame getroffen, die von Norwegen aus herunterradelt. Viel Gepäck, aber es hat Spaß gemacht, mit ihr zu sprechen. Morgen bleibe ich hier, aber werde in die Camargue radeln. Ich möchte weiße Pferde und rosa Vögel sehen!
Ein Ruhetag. Irgendwie. Ich habe beschlossen, zwei Tage auf dem Campingplatz zu bleiben, um eine kleine Tour in die Camargue zu machen. Die Fahrt war wunderschön. Nach Süden, Rückenwind. Nach Norden, Gegenwind. Aber kein großes Problem, da ich kaum Gepäck hatte. Ich habe nach weißen Pferden, rosa Vögeln und schwarzen Stieren gesucht. Habe sie alle gesehen. Leider keine wirklich wilden weißen Pferde. Trotzdem war es wunderschön. Auf dem Weg wurde mir wirklich klar, wie glücklich ich bin, dass ich einfach auf leeren Straßen radeln kann, während die meisten Menschen im Büro sitzen.
Entschuldigung für den ganzen blauen Himmel. Aber es ist hier tatsächlich sehr sonnig. Immer noch kein einziger Regentag, trotz dem in Neapel. Schöne Strecke entlang der #viarhona, mit Fahrten entlang eines Kanals, des Mittelmeers, der Camargue und einer super süßen Stadt namens Aigues-Mortes. Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden. Nur eins: Moskitos! Irgendwie war der Campingplatz ein Hotspot für sie. Ich wurde angegriffen, zweimal lief sogar Blut an meinen Beinen herunter. Hoffentlich treten sie nicht so schnell wieder auf, aber ich habe einige Waffen dagegen.
Oh, da war diese Gruppe von Kaltschwimmers. Alle gut über 60 mit Neoprenanzügen. Eine trug sogar leuchtend roten Lippenstift und war super schick. Wenn ich in der Nähe des Meeres leben würde, würde ich versuchen, das auch zu meinem Hobby zu machen.
Der Tag hat nicht gut begonnen. Kein Kaffee. Kalt. Moskitos. Seltsamer Campingplatz, wirklich niemand da draußen. So schnell wie möglich gepackt, um loszufahren. Aber das #Garmin war wieder voll und mein Laptop leer. Musste alles zurücksetzen und neu verbinden. Wenn jemand einen Tipp hat, wie das effektiver geht, lasst es mich wissen. Und ich bin nicht so richtig ins Radfahren gekommen. Ich habe nach Kaffee gesucht, nichts. In Sète hatte ich fast eine Chance, bin aber in einen Streik geraten. Nach Sète habe ich endlich in einer tollen Bäckerei etwas bekommen. Lange Fahrt an der Küste entlang, wunderschön. Aber es wird wieder ein wenig langweilig. Ich muss den Rest meiner Route so planen, dass ich nicht in zu viele solcher Städte gerate. Gestern habe ich mich in La Grande Motte verirrt. Eine riesige Strandstadt. Schrecklich. Man kommt leicht rein und raus, aber dazwischen herrscht einfach totales Chaos in der Orientierung. Sie versuchen ständig, dich auf Radwege zu bringen, die du mit Fußgängern teilen sollst, obwohl die Straße einen super Belag hat und fast leer ist. Ich falle jedes Mal darauf rein. Letzter Tag auf #Eurovelo8, auf dem Weg nach Bordeaux.
