I arrived in Scotland! A big milestone! The first day of biking in Scotland though was a bit tough. While the landscape was beautiful, it was a busy road that made it hard. Just a tiny bike lane, while the logging trucks were big. Eventually I reached Abington and stopped at the local general store. Very friendly staff and I could stock up on some food before taking the last miles to the Lettershaws Campsite.

To have a little bit of a framework to evaluate campsites for bike travelers, I wrote my criteria down in another post. The review is based on these criteria.
Upon arrival I called the owners and just a short wait later they arrived. Gave me a brief description of the campsite and I was all set to set up my tent.
The campsite is small, but the pitches are large. I was lucky to have a pitch that was at the edges of the campground and I could easily imagine that I was the only person there. So, yes, there are RVs, but it's really not a problem.
I did not ask for one. The lawn was beautiful to sit on and the site was so remote that I really did not worry about the safety of my bike.
I believe there were some sockets in the toilet facilities.
No, there was no common room.
No, you really should consider this and stock up on some food in Abington.
Abington itself is on the NCN 74, the campsite is a good four kilometers away from Abington. But the road is fantastic!
That campsite was absolutely gorgeously located! Nestled in a little valley with great views! I would definitely try to get a pitch towards the end of the field as your view won't be disturbed by the RVs. But even if so, it's still beautiful. And there are plenty of bunnies!
It's a very simple campsite, so don't expect all the luxuries. But the location is hard to beat and absolutely beautiful. The road leading to the campsite was as well a pleasure to ride on. I would definitely visit again!
