A fast day ended in Lochcarron. Fast, because the day I cycled, the Celtman Triathlon happened. And I'm very ambitious, I always tried to keep up with the contestants, with a fully loaded bike. Needless to say, I didn't.
Without having booked beforehand I showed up at The Wee Campsite and was glad that they had an available spot. For those who don't know, the term "wee" is frequently used in Scotland and means little. Love it!

To have a little bit of a framework to evaluate campsites for bike travelers, I wrote my criteria down in another post. The review is based on these criteria.
The owner greeted me friendly and was super approachable. He lives on the premises and the campsite is already there for more than 70 years!
There are different plateaus on the campsite, and one is reserved for tents and not accessible to cars.
Yes, there are beer benches on the pitches.
I believe there were electricity sockets in the facilities, but no guarantee. My power banks were still full.
There's no common room, the campsite is really small. But there's a little area where you can wash up your dishes.
None of it is on the premises. But the campsite is very close to the main road in Lochcarron where you can find a SPAR. While biking through the UK, I found that the SPARs vary massively, and this is a great one! There are also some restaurants and pubs nearby.
Yes, the NC500. It's just a tiny bit off the main road of Lochcarron.
It's up a little hill and you have great views on Loch Carron!
It's a small campsite, like really small. But it is well maintained and taken care of. The owner is a character, but really friendly. And the prices are super fair. I would definitely stay again!
