Wernllwydd Farm, Newcastle, Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Wales, NP25 5NF
After two days in Bristol, where I stocked up on some essentials, kimchi, and coffee, I continued my journey. It led my across the Severn Bridge and into the forests around the River Wye. Absolutely beautiful area, lots of forest and great hills! The Tintern Abbey made an impressive stop and had some restaurants. I had a little bite at the Filling Station, which is a recommendation! After some more kilometers I reached this campsite.

To have a little bit of a framework to evaluate campsites for bike travelers, I wrote my criteria down in another post. The review is based on these criteria.
I had booked beforehand and phoned the owners once I arrived. They told me that I could just select a pitch and could reach out to them if I needed anything. Worked, but well, it's always nicer to have a little bit of a more personal welcome. But I understand, they do live on the farm which is close by and have certainly other things to do.
My pitch was pretty much away from cars. It had a little cut out area with a little path that only allowed for walking or pushing your bike there.
As the owners were not present, I could not really ask. But there was a little playground with picnic benches.
I don't believe so. The facilities are very clean, but as well very simple. And I have not seen a socket to charge my phone.
There's a little wash up room and some playgrounds for kids.
There's a little honesty shop for farm produce on the entrance of the site, but unfortunately it was empty. The campsite is pretty remote, so I would definitely stock up on some food beforehand.
It's not directly located at a bike route.
The big plus of the pop-up campsite. Absolutely beautiful location, very remote and absolute great views. It really feels like camping in nature. You'll be hard pressed to find a more idyllic campsite!
Generally I enjoyed my stay at Red Sky at Night campsite. It was beautifully nestled in nature and the facilities were very well taken care of and clean. There's no shower though, which was not a problem for me as I knew it beforehand. But, I find it a bit overpriced. You can find the prices on Pitchup, but for a pop-up campsite with no shower, for one person in one tent, I found it too expensive. This is something that you'll have more frequently in the UK though, the prices can't be compared to the prices in France.
But yes, I would visit again, it's a gorgeous space!
