Cuminestown, Turriff AB53 5XY, United Kingdom
One of these days. I somehow lost orientation and biked to Cuminestown. Luckily the shop was open, even though Google told me differently. But I went quite a bit too far and had to bike back to get to the campsite. While approaching it, I was very unsure whether I was on the right track. The street was getting worse, and was leading almost through farms. But yes, I was on the right track.

To have a little bit of a framework to evaluate campsites for bike travelers, I wrote my criteria down in another post. The review is based on these criteria.
There was nobody at the reception. But a group of other campers welcomed me nicely and said that I could simply pitch my tent. They had a herd of Australian Shepherds, like really. Six or seven, which were running around at the dog yard. Once I parked my bike at the picnic bench, the owner approached me very friendly and gave me an overview of the place.
Absolutely. The area is pretty spacious and there were very few people.
Yes, there was a picnic bench.
This place and it's facilities were really special. It had a little kitchen with a water cooker and other utilities. And in the lady's washing room, there was a beauty table! Incredible! Accordingly there were many options to charge my power banks.
Again, they went above and beyond. In the old barn was an absolutely beautiful common room, with a ping pong table, games, a pool table, and a lot more. All the facilities were really thoughtful and super well-equipped. But in a very nice way, not at all sterile.
A downside, unfortunately no shop. My little detour to Cuminestown was a blessing!
Yes, It is located a good kilometer off the EuroVelo 1 and 12.
Very remote and beautifully located. Great views on a hilly landscape and fenced in with the typical gorse bushed.
An absolute recommendation! This is a place owned by people who really care about that their visitors have a great time. The facilities were so well maintained and thought of, and this beauty table still makes me smile.
