Woke up to the most perfect view! A great ride during the day with hills that are clearly picking up. By now I expect to have distance divided by ten as my ascend. Then it’s a normal ride. Below is easy peasy. One thing that shocked me a bit was the amount of garbage at the side of the road. Didn’t see that in a long time… arrived on nice campsite where two weird things happened. The one is that there was a bit of trouble with the camping neighbours, the next day even police showed up. I think the over reacted a bit. But there was a bit of tension in the air and I didn’t sleep as deep as usually. At around midnight I woke up from a sound. Looked out of the tent. And what did I see? A fox just in front of me with my back of porridge in his snout! We looked at each other and then walked away…
Read onDiverging from the normal LEJOG route into the east. Into Fife. I have some extra days at my hands before meeting a friend in Inverness. Again, beautiful ride, now even with a lot of signage! Unfortunately the theme of garbage on the side of the road continues, at least they make it now a bit more spectacular. Evening started a bit unpleasant, as the camping spot had totally miscommunicated their policies, but got a good night sleep in the end.
Read onA rainy start. Turns out my tent is leaking, which means I need to get new one. The old one will be sent back to Germany. I really like it! Rain continued until Dundee. The bridge to Dundee is great! Best thing: you bike into an elevator that brings you down. Biking towards Montrose I had admired the bike of a local, got lost in the military zone and chatted with a Scottish traveler girl and it’s siblings. Overall, great day!
Read onA rather short one. Booked the campsite for the wrong day and decided to take the train to Aberdeen and bike from there. Two old Dutch biketourists called it cheating. Well… I landed in Cuminestown with. Nice downhill with a bit of drizzle. Nice until I realised my campsite was at the top. But wasn’t too bad nd it reminded me to always double check destinations as Komoot is often off. Great campsite: a herd of border collies, a beauty table with a hair dryer and the potential to play 🏓
Read onUneventful, but filled with lots of interactions with very interested seniors. I hardly made it out of the CO-OP, everybody had questions 😍
Read onI made it to Inverness! Getting my brakes fixed, finding a new tent and finally some proper washing. Will stay there until Fiona arrives to do the North Coast 500. Oh, I stayed in a hostel. I was absolutely shocked when I saw what the other guests threw in the bin. New clothes and food. I will never get that.
