Day 42 - from Sauvagnac to Confolense

What shall I say. My host told me that she was so scared of dogs when biking. I almost got a tad cocky and said something along the lines that I'm no longer that worried about them.

I started the day in a small bakery. And a little bit of an awkward scene happened. A German bike touring couple went as well to the bakery. I'm not too talkative in the morning and they were very cheerful. I had forgotten my phone in snack bag and wanted to get. I reached for the door and the guy tried to greet my by hand. Very strange. Very German. I got my pain au chocolat and started biking.

Day 42

I was off the #Eurovelo route passing farms and all was great. Then I approached a farm, which was crossed by the road. And of course, a dog came running towards me. Mid-size, actually quite cute. I stopped. But this guy was feisty. Very fast and I actually had his snout already on my leg. I think that could have been my first bite on the route. Just in the last second, the farmer called Hugo, the name of the dog, and he turned around. It wouldn't have killed me. But still not pleasant. Not fun, but to be fair, I crossed sort of the territory of Hugo.

Continued and at a park there was a guy walking his dog. The dog came straight at me. Again, mid sized. But not cute. All of a sudden a sudden another dog appeared, a German shepherd. And I had the two dogs at me. The owner did not manage to call them back. I was super furious. The stupid fucker even had a sticker on his car calling out that he was transporting "Sport dogs". And they did not even listen to them. I was done for the day.

I hadn't booked anything for the night. So when I came to Confolense and saw the very nice campground, I decided to stay. I stayed even two nights, as it dawned on me, that I had the Loire route two times on my plan and I decided to take the train to Nantes after another small ride. I believe there were strikes as well, at least there were no trains going on Thursday.

Campground, as said, was great. Possibly my favourite so far. Only irritating thing was that I was woken up the first day by gunshots. Hunters trying to scare off the crows, apparently.

Mood: happy :)
