We’re getting there. Very tired of going along the canal, I branched out and took a different route. Day started very foggy, but with great views. And then came a super nice oute along rocks and little houses. Well canal houses, but that route was great! Btw, I hardly talk about the very details of the route and villages I’m passing. Simply because it’s so much, but will take some time to share more once I’m back.
Read onVineyards, great views and sweet little villages. Biking through the Alsace. Definitely an area that I would like to visit again. Original plan was to get to Strasbourg, but decided for a more direct route to Colmar, eager to get to the Alps and from experience, I don’t enjoy biking bigger cities too much.
Read onThe only stretch I did twice. Mulhouse towards the Rhine. It’s always amazing to see how the animals grow up. Saw all these baby swans along the way and now they’re already pretty big. On the evening on the campsite was a MINI gathering. With caravans that were in the according size. It’s such a shame that the cars nowadays get bigger and bigger.
Read onI’m in Switzerland! Started with a nice flat ride on the Rhine, continued to Basel and then entered the Jura with a first mountainous area. Basel. Amazing to see people swimming or floating in the river with their dry bags. Would have loved to do that! And then the whole day the question. Is it mountains or clouds. Both, but first glimpses of glaciers.
Read onAbsolutely beautiful day. Big mountains in sight, beautiful lake and Lucerne with an absolutely stunning cityscape. People are again swimming in the river. Biking in these semi tunnels and a breathtaking sunset. Switzerland is so expensive, but I’m ignoring this, within reason, as it’s so beautiful as well.
Read onLazy day, unplanned. But look at these landscapes! The Vierwaldstätter See is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen! Lazy, because I had to take a boat first and then a train. There were big signs that it was not advised to take the road to Sisikon by bike. I followed the advice. Along the way I met a very charming women in the woods from Fribourg. In her eighties. We talked for at least 15 minutes waiting for her friend.
Read onThis one was a great one! From Sisikon to Urigen on the Klausenpass. Quite steep, but a lot of fun, and very beautiful. I split the Klausenpass on purpose, and was glad about it. Not late after I arrived at my hotel a big thunderstorm started. And I love passes, while exhausting, they’re almost a bit like meditation. More images the coming days.
